Adventures with the Gator
Going to red carpet events with Pete is fun for a myriad of reasons. A.) He has his own unique ideas about what constitutes appropriate behavior in social situations, B.) He is completely unintimidated by celebrities, publicists, and security teams, C.) He usually ends up singing loudly and off key to a captive crowd using a Budweiser as a microphone, and most importantly D.) He always records it all.
The Hard Rock event to benefit Willie Nelson's orginization for Sustainable Biodiesel was no different. Only this time the Gator had a very specific goal in mind -- interviews with expected guests Woody Harrelson and Ted Danson for Breuer Unleashed's impending "George Wendt Film Festival". Pete, Shaka and I spent a good hour standing at the end of the carpet with a mini-recorder, downing drinks behind all of the "legit" media with expensive equipment and eager expressions. A few guests walked by-- former Breu guest Andrew WK, O.A.R., New York's infamous MisShapes, and of course American Idol Constantine Maroulis, but Pete wanted none of it. Constantine even circled by a few times and took up a post right next to Pete, in hopes of doing every last possible interview, but Pete said he felt it was his duty to his country to not acknowledge him.
FINALLY Woody Harrelson arrived. He slowly made his way down the carpet, stopping to chat with every last camera and microphone about bio-this and bio-that. When at long last he reached our Bud-bottle littered station, Pete approached, and his nicest, most polite voice ventured "Hi Woody, can I have just a second of your time? I'm from Breuer Unleashed on Sirius and we're doing a George Wendt film festival." And wouldn't you know it, Woody Harrelson, that tree-hugging, Wendt-hating, sonofagun just walked on by. Pete chased him down the remainder of carpet and down the stairs, yelling "Woody! Woody! It's a George Wendt Film Festival! George Wendt!" until finally security stopped him and he returned to us, defeated. By this point, the entire Breu Crew was waiting at the top of the stairs for him, and though we were all disappointed that we didn't get sound bites for our Wendt Festival, I have never seen a group of people laugh that hard at their friend. Well worth it.
But not everyone gave Pete the brush-off. (Well, there was an incident with Daryl Hannah, but you can't win 'em all). The incomparable Stephen Colbert stopped to chat, and even did his best to drege up some George Went memories.
And obviously, it doesn't get any cooler than Willie Nelson. All in all a very successful evening for Biodiesel and the Regulator Nation.

Making Kevin Brennan Cry
Here at Breuer Unleashed, we're all about helping people. There was the Disneyland Intervention back when Breu took one too many vacations to "Mouschwitz", and of course the recent attempts to convert Lou's bald pate to a head of thick, lustrous hair.
Recently Pete called good friend of the show and hilarious comedian Kevin Brennan to let him know that they show they were headlining at Comix that weekend had a mere 8 reservations. He found that Kevin was already feeling more than a little down after a disaster with a microphone on Letterman... I believe his exact words were "suicide watch". Obviously the only solution was to invite Kevin on the show and try to make him cry.
A variety of tactics were used to try and induce the "weep therapy". We provided him with a teddy bear, incense, tissues, tea, and wine to set the mood. But Brennan was a brick. That's when it was time to bring out the big gun; Shaka's song "Keep On Breathing". Kevin made it through most of the song stonefaced until the line "my sister died" at which point he uttered an "oh no"-- perhaps the most emotional Kevin Brennan gets. Here he is trying to appease the guys by clutching his teddy bear and listening to Shaka's song... note the complete lack of tears.

Back in Action
Labor Day has come and gone, the kids are back in school, and the Breuer Unleashed crew is fired up and ready for the madness to recommence. We've got some big things in the works for the fall season...

He's baaaaaaaack!
Our fearless leader, the good Reverend Breuer, is officially back at the wheel! It's been an interesting couple of weeks with Pete "The Gator" Correale at the helm, and we had some amazing and hilarious shows. But needless to say, with Zookeeper Breu out of town, the Gator went a chompin'....
In the span of just 2 weeks, he managed to: Turn Lou into an angry steroid freak; Ambush Larry with a stand up comedy class; Subect poor Buffalo Bill (who was only trying to write a Best Man speech) to a good half hour of "short" jokes; Read and mock a personal card of mine;
Completely destroy Pete Dominick's self-esteem; Oh and lets not forget -- Call Shaka "Denny Terio" and only permit him to speak while disco music was playing. For 2 full hours.

But not everyone who came in studio got bitten. Some guests got the softer side of Pete, like the multi-talented Mike McGlone, and director / musician Rob Zombie...
Or the always hilarous Ben Bailey who did a little gator-chomping himself...
Neil Fallon of the awesome band Clutch (who called in to audition as Lou's new hero), and Nikki Sixx (who called in to talk about his new book the Heroin Diaries about... well, heroin) also both got kinder, gentler Pete. You just don't mess with rock stars.

Breuer's been back for just a day so far, and has already managed to clean up the wake of destruction left behind by Hurricane Correale. He's gotten Shaka back on track on promoting his new album which you can pre-order here. He gently explained to the crew why it wasn't a good idea to electrocute and rub steroids on Lou's head based on untested claims that it would cause hair growth. He somehow managed to extract full partying confessions from me, and Larry... well Larry didn't get his cheeks made fun of or called "GrapeApe" for one full show for the first time in a couple of weeks. Looks like everything is back on track!
